Aren’t they the cutest?
Also, I don’t know if you noticed, but we made the commitment and this blog became domesticatedartists.com a few weeks ago! Here goes nothing!

Man, that really steams my buns.
hehe. Thanks to the Asian market for a tasty, easy dinner.
Last night I officially began work at the All Local Farmers Market as a holiday gift wrapper and shipper. It’s pretty awesome. The Shop Tart mentioned my stand in her post today, which you know, basically means I’m famous for the day.
If you’re at the market and find the perfect gift for your grandma in New York, your uncle in Georgia, or your girlfriend in Chicago, bring it over! I’ll wrap and mail it for you! I’m basically Santa. You’re welcome.

I guess I’ll never learn. It is not emotionally safe to name feral animals.
They come and go and don’t want anything to do with people.
A couple weeks ago, I became attached to this tiny little kitten outside with white feet. I thought he was alone in the world so I fed him a few times. Then I realized there were actually three kittens and a mama cat living beside/behind/around our home.
The first kitten’s name is Fernando, because he seemed much braver than the other kittens and that just seemed like a good name for an adventure cat. The fluffy kitten is Rosalinda, and the solid one is Chester. You know, just in case you see them around.
One time Fernando was hungry enough that he let me rub his little back while he gobbled up some kitten food. He growled and purred and was kind of pitiful. I wish I had just scooped him up and brought him inside right there. But he had a mama, and it seemed mean to steal a baby from its mama.
On Monday, Forrest found Fernando in the road. I guess he was trying to adventure across the street and didn’t see the car.
I feel sick about that little cat, and I realize it’s ridiculous. The other kittens seem to be more cautious; maybe they’ll be safe.
Anyway, our actual cats drive me insane (read: Hemingway creeping in my closet), but I am grateful for them. Hemingway in particular, since she was a wild yard cat before we brought her inside and made her wear silly outfits.
So I guess the moral of the story is that we should remember to hug our pets (even cats who don’t want it) and not fall in love with feral critters. It never ends well. Remember that guy with the tiger in Ohio? Sheesh.

I’m behind, but here’s a little recap of our weekend.
Forrest worked pretty much non-stop over the weekend, photographing Arts and Draughts on Friday, working the market and photographing a wedding on Saturday, and doing more photos for charity event on Sunday.
Back home in Florence, my dad and brother flew off to Buffalo (dad’s home turf) for a Bills football game. So naturally, my mom headed to Columbia to stay with us for a night!
On Saturday, Mom and I had a great lunch at the market, then headed to the Christmas Craftsmen’s Classic at the fairgrounds. We shopped and piddled around all afternoon, then headed home to watch the Carolina game. It’s been a rough season for the Gamecocks so far. Too many injuries.
Most importantly, we took my mama to Cafe Strudel for Hangover Hashbrowns on Sunday morning. They are the bomb.
On top of that, our friends Tim and Joey are in town for a few days from Washington (state) for a wedding! It was wonderful to meet up with them (along with Nick and Shannon) to hang out for a bit on Sunday evening.
And check out this cool pepper thing they brought us from Seattle! So cool (or hot! heheh). Thanks, guys!

That’s about it for me. I’m actually grateful for the time change because (for the time being) I’m not driving to work in the dark! It makes me feel like a real person when I get the chance to see the daylight.
Also, I’ve started watching Breaking Bad on Netflix. It’s intense. Maybe too intense for me, actually.
Hope you had a wonderful weekend and your week has started wonderfully!

OH, man. As a kid, I loved the fair. The rides, the games, all of it. Pretty sure I went home with a new prize goldfish every year. My parents weren’t quite so enamored. I understand that more nowadays.
Forrest and I try to make it to the SC State Fair every year. It really is fun to see the fairgrounds filled with flashing lights, to smell the grease in the air, and to dodge the swarms of kids hyped up on sugary funnel cakes. Mostly I like to visit the farm animals, check out the kids art displays, and you know I’m not leaving without a corndog.
The state fair is gone for the year, hope you had a chance to make it! If not, start counting down the days ’til next October. 🙂

Those of you who know me, know much I love beer. Well this month has been a good month for beer. My close friend Nick Wilson gave a talk the other week alongside a very talented home brewer from the upstate, Brian Cendrowski. The two discussed the art of craft in design and beer, it was basically the perfect event for me. The talks were followed by a guided beer tasting led by Brian. Brian also has a great beer blog called UNTAMED BEER. Since then I’ve been working with Nick on a project for The Half and Half. The project was a poster created for LOVELIKEBEER, a great beer blog based in San Diego, who commissioned the posters for a craft beer dinner featuring Jolly Pumpkin Ales to benefit Engineers Without Borders. This is the final result. Enjoy!

Well, I’m officially 26 today! Which is good, since I’ve been (accidentally) telling people that for a while now. I just like to practice.
Last weekend, we celebrated with my family and some totally awesome birthday cupcakes! This weekend, the celebrations continue.
It’s about 5:45 am and I’m off to school. Wish me luck on this birthday workday!
Hope your Friday is lovely and relaxing!

Today we traveled to Charleston to visit my favorite rheumatologist.
Aside from that flare a few weeks ago, my joints have been great for the past six months, so this check-up was pretty uneventful. It’s a little inconvenient to drive down to MUSC every few months for appointments, but my doctor and his nurses are so incredible that it’s worth it.
Forrest and I drove down right after lunch for my appointment. Afterward, we headed downtown for a little window shopping and grabbed dinner at Sermet’s Corner (one of our faves) before coming home for the evening. I love strolling King Street, even if it’s just to peek in windows and wander into Urban Outfitters for a bit.
At dinner, I had a yummy chicken and butternut squash ravioli dish and F loved his lavender marinated pork. So much that it turned him into.. a dinosaur?
All in all, a successful day.

PS- Also, have you ever heard of Kudu in Charleston? Awesome coffee!
